Estonia has banned the transit of Russian and Belarusian grain under a new national sanction. The measure restricts the movement of agricultural goods from the two countries through Estonia and adds to existing trade-related restrictions.
Estonia has formally banned the transit of grain originating from Russia and Belarus through its territory under a new national sanction, the country's Foreign Ministry said on October 1. Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said Estonia would not allow its ports to become an alternative export route for Russian grain as Black Sea trade faces disruption. The ministry noted that Russian and Belarusian grain transit through Estonia had previously been essentially nonexistent, limiting the immediate supply impact while closing a potential future route.
