Live FX activity

Activity is a session-based liquidity estimate, not centralized spot-FX volume.

When is the forex market open?

The forex week generally opens Sunday at 5:00 p.m. New York time and closes Friday at 5:00 p.m. New York time. This live tool converts every session and overlap into your selected time zone and applies London, New York and Sydney daylight-saving changes automatically.

London and New York overlap normally brings the deepest liquidity. The New York rollover is usually thinner and can produce wider spreads. The London 4:00 p.m. benchmark window—shown here as Witching Hour—can concentrate order flow, especially around month-end.

SessionLocal centre hoursTypical focus
Sydney08:00–17:00 SydneyAUD, NZD, Asia-Pacific flow
Tokyo09:00–18:00 TokyoJPY and Asian currencies
London08:00–17:00 LondonEUR, GBP and global hub activity
New York08:00–17:00 New YorkUSD, CAD and London overlap
Why do forex session times move by one hour?

London, New York and Sydney do not change clocks on the same dates. This tracker builds each session in its market-centre time zone, so the converted time changes correctly for your location.

Why is the volume chart an activity estimate?

Spot forex is decentralized and traded over the counter, so no public feed contains every transaction. The chart combines active sessions, overlaps, pair relevance and intraday liquidity patterns without presenting fabricated exchange volume.

What does Witching Hour mean here?

It marks the London 4:00 p.m. benchmark window, when benchmark-related orders can concentrate activity. It is different from equity-market triple witching.
