US Retail Sales Jump 1.2% as Import Prices Rise 0.7%
U.S. retail and food-services sales rose 1.2% in August to $773.9 billion, the Census Bureau said, while July’s decline was revised to 0.5%. The GDP-linked retail control group increased 1.4%, Reuters reported. Separately, import prices climbed 0.7% and were 7.0% higher than a year earlier, with nonfuel prices up 0.8%.
