Germany's industrial orders fell 10.6% month on month in August after seasonal and calendar adjustment, according to Destatis figures reported by Reuters. Excluding large orders, the decline was only 0.1%. The three-month comparison showed orders rising 1.3% from the preceding period. The contrast between the headline and underlying measures is important for assessing the manufacturing outlook: this release does not show an equally steep decline across ordinary orders.
