What’s the best way to build a solid forex-learning foundation?

I’m trying to learn forex systematically rather than jumping straight into strategies.

For those who have experience learning forex, what would you recommend focusing on first?

  • Understanding pips, lots, spreads, leverage, and margin

  • Reading candlestick and market structure

  • Support/resistance and trend analysis

  • Risk management and position sizing

  • Fundamental factors such as interest rates and economic data

  • Backtesting and keeping a trading journal

If you had to choose one topic to master first, what would it be, and what mistake should a beginner avoid?

For me, risk management and position sizing come first. You can have a great strategy, but if you don’t understand how much you’re risking on each trade, leverage and a few bad decisions can wipe out your progress quickly. After that, I’d focus on market structure, support/resistance, and then build into fundamentals and backtesting. Biggest beginner mistake: trying to make money before learning how to protect capital. Learn the mechanics, practice on demo, journal everything, and keep risk consistent.
